Gary Haney, Deputy Chief Information Officer, Office of Solutions and Service Delivery

Gary Haney serves as the Acting Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) at the Department of Commerce (DOC), where he leads the Office Solutions and Service Delivery (OSSD).

As Acting DCIO, Gary oversees the daily operations and processes that maintain and support Commerce’s information technology (IT) infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient systems that enable the department to achieve its objectives.

Prior to his current role, Gary was the Director of Information Technology for Commerce's shared services organization. There, he led efforts to provide innovative, cost-effective IT solutions, overseeing the Enterprise Services’ IT Tower, which encompassed areas such as robotic process automation, service management, digital transformation, and IT modernization.

Gary has over 25 years of experience delivering technology services to both government and commercial sectors. Before joining the Department of Commerce, Gary was a Managing Director at Accenture Federal Services, where he focused on delivering technology solutions for the U.S. Intelligence Community. His expertise in application modernization, cloud adoption, and community-wide IT shared services earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Pentagon Memorial Coin for his contributions to Operation Enduring Freedom. Earlier in his career, Gary worked on implementing large-scale enterprise supply chain systems for organizations like Hershey Foods, Corning, and the State of New York.

Gary holds a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Allegheny College, and a Master of Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Fellow of the American Council for Technology – Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC).
