Quickly Access Data Through Viewers and Applications

As our country continues to battle COVID-19, climate challenges, and other threats, we continue to evolve and adapt to meet the diverse needs of our communities. The U.S. Census Bureau helps the nation stay informed by providing access to our plethora of resources and tools on the state and health of our nation. In recent years, the Census Bureau has developed myriad data viewers and visual applications showcasing our research and making it easy to access.

My Community Explorer

In April 2022, the Census Bureau launched a new viewer, My Community Explorer (MCE). MCE is an interactive map-based tool that highlights demographic and socioeconomic data that measure inequality and can help inform evidence-based solutions. This tool is designed to help users identify underserved communities as directed by President Biden's Executive Order On Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government. It is an expansion of the Community Resilience Estimates tool examining the capacity of individuals and households to absorb, endure and recover from the health, social and economic impacts of a disaster such as a hurricane or pandemic.

Digital Equity Act Population Viewer

The Census Bureau is working with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to bridge the digital divide by providing data to inform funding of programs to promote digital equity. In response to the Digital Equity Act of 2021, established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Sections 60301-60307), NTIA and the Census Bureau released the Digital Equity Act Population Viewer, an interactive map that shows broadband availability and use alongside demographics in every state.

The Census Bureau strives to produce easy-to-access data products and visualizations to keep the public informed. With knowledge, comes power.

For more information on these tools, visit the Census Bureau's website and connect with the Census Bureau on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
