The Research Security Program promotes mutually beneficial international engagement while taking steps to mitigate potential threats and safeguard the Department's security research enterprise. We recognize the contributions foreign nationals make to our research programs. Our partnerships with researchers worldwide provide access to experience and expertise that are essential to advancing global measurement science and the innovation ecosystem. We also recognize the importance of protecting our resources and intellectual property from hostile entities. We aim to achieve an appropriate balance between open collaboration and security. We use a risk-based methodology for scalable, non-intrusive security countermeasures that safeguard the Department's scientific research and intellectual property.
