Supervisors

The supervisor should complete the supervisor’s portion of all claim forms, with supporting medical documentation, as soon as possible but no later than 3 business days after receipt of the claim form from the employee via ECOMP or paper on behalf of the employee. Supervisors will receive an email from ECOMP notifying them that an employee has filed a claim in the system. The supervisor should click the link in the email to complete the assigned form. By completing forms timely, DOC can achieve goals established by the Presidential Initiative, Protecting Employees, Enabling Reemployment (PEER) for the timely filing of CA-1/2s and the timely filing of CA-7/7as. Supervisors should know they are not being asked to adjudicate claim validity. OWCP performs all adjudications after a complete review of the claim.

When an employee provides verbal notice that an incident has occurred but does not wish to file a workers’ compensation claim, you should advise the employee to file the OSHA- 301.

Note: Claims should not be held for receipt of supporting documentation.

** Supervisory Training coming soon to CLC.
